Outstanding Branding Supports Southend United Football Club

Multi award-winning global distributor of promotional merchandise,Outstanding Branding, has recently helped to support Southend United Football Club in their quest to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.

CEO of Southend United Steve Kavanagh and nine fans of the football club are taking part in the 'Football to Amsterdam' cycle challenge from London to Amsterdam next month, all in aid of raising money for this fantastic charity. The challenge consists of 150 miles from start to finish for around 500 cyclists of all ages and cycling abilities and will commence on the 3rd of June, finishing on the 4th all in order to raise money and recognition of the disease which now affects 1 in 8 men in the UK. Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition – "to stop men dying from prostate cancer." They believe that over the next 10 years, if science focuses on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will be able to stop prostate cancer being a killer.

Outstanding Branding sponsored the team and produced their cycling tops for the event. To be involved in such a prominent part of the cycling kit for the event was a huge honour for the company. To date, the team have raised £12,187.94 which is an incredible 97% of their target.
CEO of Southend United Steve Kavanagh comments, "I am extremely grateful to Andy and Outstanding Branding for the idea and their assistance in providing Team Southend United with a branded cycle shirt for the ride.  It has allowed us to raise over £2,000 in addition to the amounts we are raising individually and has helped take our fund raising so far beyond the £12,000 mark, which has put Southend United top of the fund raising league for all teams taking part in the London To Amsterdam ride.

I did the ride last year and having a team kit also helps motivate you as you go through the gruelling ride and helps the team stick together amongst the hundreds of riders taking part in the event."

ASI: Market Statistics on Higher Education Clients

The Advertising Specialty Institute (ASI) has recently published a study on clients in higher education, with interesting survey data found on popular sectors collected from distributors. There were various interesting results about various demographics, as well as locations and opinions.

They started by surveying how easy it is to penetrate into the higher education market. What's interesting to note here is that when put together, just over half of the sectors claimed that it was rather difficult. With 23% mentioning it was neither hard nor easy and with around 25% claiming it was easier. What's interesting to take note of is the need to understand why it might be harder to target and how is best to offer the most attractive products.

Once breaking into the sector, its interesting to also note that there were somewhat mixed results collected in retaining higher education clients, with most having only a somewhat or neither/or opinion.

They also conducted a survey on what promotional products for this sector are most popular. Unsurprisingly writing instruments came top with 74%, whilst other popular university items such as apparel and bags came a close second.

Surprising desk and office items were lower down with 48% and health items were least favoured. This is important as for companies taking part in promotional campaigns as there can be heavy focus on promotional study equipment and clothing, something many students like to utilise.

Most orders for promotional merchandise were also found to be during the second and third quarters of the year, a time for most people in higher education where it gets busier. For example, there are more campaigns and events to take away pre-exam stress, and post-exam events to celebrate. These could be factors your brand could consider when promoting products to this sector.

Trade Show Gift Fairs: #Cantonfair and #HKgifts 2016

Two of the worlds largest trade show gift fairs took place last week and were as huge as ever. Canton Fair's second phase was all focused on consumer goods, gifts and home decoration, with gifts being the main interest. As for the Hong Kong Gift fair this was focused on gifts and what can be offered as promotions to customers and companies.

Promogift blog have followed both of these trade show gift fairs closely and gathered information from 100's of tweets. After analyzing this information we created the following word cloud, with the number of mentions being represented by the size of the word.

As you Can see the most popular words used were both the names of the trade show gift fairs: "Cantonfair" and "HKgifts". With these results however it shows that Canton Fair has been more popular online socially due to the larger text in the cloud.

Other Relevant words that seemed to stand out in the word cloud were "digital marketing" and "big data" suggesting that gifts and the way in which people were interacting with booths and other exhibitors are progressively becoming more digitised.

While following the hashtags #cantonfair and #HKgifts, we also tracked down the top tweeters of these trade show gift fairs. As cantonfair was more popular over social media we have taken the top 25 tweeters where as only the top 10 tweeters where taken for Hong Kong Gift Fair.

Canton Fair is the largest trade fair in China. it has the largest assortment of products, the largest attendance, and the largest number of business deals made at the fair. They even had a special section in hall 1 this year, "World of Gift Idea" – highlighting a huge array of trendy, top-class gift products in deluxe booth that was a huge attraction to all new and old attendees.

While not as big as Canton Fair, the Hong Kong Gift fair is staged annually in Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and is an exciting and huge business-to-business event presenting a diverse range of electrical products from around the world housing it all under one roof. It provides a unique opportunity for the whole global electronic industry to meet, network, negotiate and conduct business. 

The major difference between these two Trade Show Gift fairs are the visitors. Canton fair is aimed at a larger market who are interested in gifts and the supply of promotional and non promotional gifts. On the other hand Hong Kong Gift fair targets those more specialised in the industry, either being involved in it themselves or regularly purchasing these type of products.
